I believe Aviation Enterprises obtained the contract for the Civilian Pilot Training Program in 1939.  At that time I was working for Kadette Aviation Company in College Station in the same program.  When we moved to Houston in 1940 I started to work at South Main Airport, at that time owned and operated by Mr. Schroeder.

One day Johnny Hamp came into the airport and was surprised to see me.  He was an instructor at Kadette Aviation Company when I worked there.  He was excited and told me there was an opening for a dispatcher at Aviation Enterprises that was made for me!  I went out, applied, and got the job.  It was a neat job with something exciting happening every day.  There were only two runways at Municipal Airport at the time.

You will be able to view some of the photos of that era at this site.
